Angel Walker Kane

UKC BIS GCH, AKC GCH Ocean’s Hurricane Nakodo RN CGC

“Kane” of North Kingstown, RI and Moultonborough, NH passed away on September 19, 2021.

He was born on October 26, 2011.

He is predeceased by his sire, CH Nakodo’s Top of the Mountain TDI CGC, “Cannon”, dam, GCH Skipjack’s Thunder & Lightning RN CGC TT TDI, “Muzzy”, and his littermate brother BBB King.  He leaves behind his breeders, owners and servants, Michael J. Lees & Cynthia Downing, and his litter mates, brother UKC BIS GCH, AKC BGCH BPIS BISS Ocean’s Force of Nature Nakodo RN CGC, ”Storm”, & sister Mina.

Kane was handled in the AKC show ring by Paul Levesque.  Kane loved Paul.  Along with his brother Storm, Kane was an Akita Club of America Top Twenty competitor at the 2015 Akita National in Mesquite Texas.  Handled by his owner, Cynthia, Kane was awarded Best in Show at the October 2016 UKC all-breed dog show in Hickory, NC, making him the top ranking UKC Akita that year.  He retired from the show ring after competing in the ACA 2018 Akita National in Sturbridge MA.

Kane had a full and happy life.  He loved food and never missed a meal.  He enjoyed his frosty paws and soup bones.  He loved rides in the truck, where he dominated the center console, always watching the road ahead.  He loved boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and Narragansett Bay.  He loved standing in weeds and lily pads in the shallow waters of Lees Pond in NH on hot summer days.  He walked a lot at Goddard Park, Hunts River, Blue Beach and lots of other places.  He was part of a sled dog team, always happy to run alongside his brother Storm who was doing all the pulling.

Kane was a good dog.  He excelled in obedience, always eager to please for a treat.  His butt was always the first to hit the floor when told to sit.  He was a natural guard dog, always protecting his family from known and unknown danger.  He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family.

His family would like to extend special thanks to Pat Mills, Keith Venezia and Ryan Dilman for their devotion as breeders and to Juliet Fiedler and Deb and David Berrios for taking such good care of Kane’s siblings.

Kane was an active fund raiser for the Big East Akita Rescue.  He participated in the Whisker Walk to raise funds for them his whole life.  Please consider making a donation in his honor. https://bigeastakitarescue.org/donate/
