All Rights Reserved Raffle 4 Rescue 2023

Bear was surrendered to the Newark NJ Humane Society the day before Valentines day 2021.

Fortunately for him and us he ended up at Big East Akita Rescue in May and this is where our journey began. His fur sister Roxy ( also an akita) passed suddenly from bone cancer. It was our intention at the time just to donate some of Roxys things to Big East but God had other plans. See I never rescued although I thought it was a lovely idea. I had an ingrained perception that it was easier to train a puppy then to out train possible problems that some humans had created. I also thought I should consider a smaller breed being I’m getting older and my busy lifestyle.

But sometimes you get what you need not what you want.

So, we upsized from an eighty pounder to a now one hundred and thirty-five pounder lol. upon arriving at Big East in NJ, with my two girls in tow, I had a feeling we wouldn’t be leaving alone. I just couldn’t get over all those beautiful faces that just needed love and care. With little convincing from my kids and friends Bear became family. He wakes up every morning with a smile on his face he is such a happy

boy. Despite his large and potentially intimidating appearance he loves to be loved. The joy that

he has brought into our home is immeasurable and we a forever grateful for the labor of love that Big East and other rescues provide. It is our pleasure to be a part of Whisker Walk to raise funds that are desperately needed to care for this beautiful breed.

Our hope is to shine a light on rescues. There are so many precious souls that need a home and the love you will receive in return is priceless.

With love Jen and the Giammarino family
